Some Camping Thoughts For Prospectors

People have been prospecting for gold since the beginning of time. It is a great way to spend time in nature and enjoy all that it has to offer. If you are in need of some ideas to use on your next gold panning trip the following article can help.

Pick a sleeping bag which is appropriate for the season. If you're camping in the heat of summer, a sub-zero bag just isn't comfortable or appropriate. Conversely, if you bring a light-weight sleeping bag to a winter camping trip, you can be extremely uncomfortable the entire time. You may even risk hypothermia.

Did you know that a simple mirror can save your life? If you are camping and end up in a survival situation, a simple hand-held mirror can be used to signal for help many miles away. Do not buy the standard glass mirror, many camping supply stores sell mirrors made of Lexan that will float and are practically unbreakable. It is also handy for examining any gold you may pan up. Lay it on the mirror and grab your magnifying glass.

Bring a plastic garbage bag and put your dirty laundry in it. This keeps the items from mixing in with your clean clothing. It also makes things convenient for you when you return home. You can simply dump out the bag into your washing machine and crank it up.

Make sure your tent is of ample size. This will give you the room necessary for a comfortable gold panning trip.

When you reach your mine site, the first thing, you should do is to start collecting wood for your fire. You won't feel like it later on, and if you wait until dark you will have a harder time finding the kind of wood you need to keep a fire going. Do it first thing.
